Meriden Police and CT DOT Team Up During April for National Distracted Driving Month Campaign

April is National Distracted Driving Awareness Month. To discourage this increasing trend, the CT DOT and local police departments are teaming up to enforce our laws.
 
Connecticut law prohibits the following:
 
*Use of any hand-held mobile electronic device while operating MV
*Drivers ages 16 or 17 are prohibited from using a cell phone or other mobile device at any time, even with a hands-free accessory
*First offense - $200
*Second offense - $375
*Third offense - $625
