Meriden-Markham Municipal Airport

The City of Meriden owns and operates the Meriden-Markham Municipal Airport (MMK) located in the southern portion of the city convenient to major metropolitan areas of central Connecticut.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Airport accommodates single-engine and light twin-engine aircraft operated for business and pleasure use.  Key facilities and services include:  

 

•  Runway 18-36  (3,100' x 75')   
•  Pilot controlled runway & taxiway edge lighting   
•  PAPI-4 and REILS
•  GPS and VOR approaches
•  Full parallel taxiway
•  Terminal building
•  Aircraft tiedown and hangar storage
•  Aircraft fueling (100LL avgas $5.60/gal)
•  Aircraft maintenance (pending)
•  Flight instruction & ground school (pending)

 

   

 

MMK is home to Chapter 27 of the Experimental Pilots Association (EAA) and a unit of the Civil Air Patrol.  The EAA is an active participant in the Young Eagles Program (ages 8 to 17) and has introduced over 1,500 would-be pilots to their first flight experience.

MMK is included in the Federal Aviation Administration's National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems and the Connecticut Department of Transportation Statewide Airport System Plan.  MMK is a federally-obligated airport and a continual recipient of grant funds for capital improvements from these agencies.

Operations at MMK are overseen by the Meriden Aviation Commission, which meets the second Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the airport terminal building.
