Uno Vac bottles were actually made by the Charles Parker Co which was bought by Union Mfg from New Britian, Ct. Mr Curtis the President of Charles Parker was an expert on the history of the piano rolls and other items made by Charles Parker. It would be interesting to locate some of his papers. Try the Meriden Library or some member of the Curtis family.
Betty Gendron from Albuquerque-New Mexico- (4/8/2008)
Well, this was a pleasant surprise. I need a stopper for my parents’ Uno Vac 271-974, so I Googled it and found the Meriden guestbook! I will definitely take the advice from the Library and find a cork for it. I should make a point of visiting your city on one of our trips to see my husband’s father in Coventry RI. They used to have a camp at Beach Pond, in E Conn. Everything in your area is so beautiful. But of course New Mexico has its own beauty also. Greetings to all!
Nils-Erik Backblom from MARIEHAMN-ALAND-FINLAND (3/30/2008)

My Dad passed last May and I have his old Thermos that he carried on his postal route and continued to carry throughout his retirement. I was trying to date it when I came across this site. It is a Uno-Vac s/n: 2711078 w/ stopper; I was so glad to get it as I could feel my Daddy’s hands as I touched it. Just something sentimental.

Stoppers for the Unovac thermos are no longer made and the company is out of business. BEST suggestion I’ve heard: use a regular cork - like the kind for a wine bottle. They come in various sizes. -JF, Local History Librarian, Meriden Public Library
