Traffic Unit

When staffing levels allow, Traffic Unit Officers are assigned to both day and evening shifts with varied days off.  Traffic Unit Officers are responsible for the investigation of all motor vehicle accidents, speed and traffic control enforcement, speed surveys, and deployment of the department's Traffic Radar trailer.  Traffic Unit Officers are highly trained in Accident Investigation, Accident Reconstruction, and the use of Speed Measuring Devices such as LIDAR and RADAR.  Traffic Unit officers may use unmarked cruisers, slick-top cruisers, and police motorcycles to perform their duties.
