The City of Meriden Health Department has been developing a plan for the mass distribution of vaccines/medications. If directed to respond to a public health emergency by the Federal/State Government, we may need to vaccinate or medicate all the residents of Meriden in as little as 2 days. As you can imagine, the success of this is highly dependent on the volunteers who can assist the public health professionals when and if needed.
You Can Help !!
The City of Meriden is planning to recruit and train several hundred volunteers. You do not need a medical background to become a volunteer. Training will be provided for a variety of non-medical duties – greeters; data entry; running video orientation; distributing supplies; reviewing forms; etc. Training of volunteers will begin shortly and additional training sessions will be conducted periodically. In an actual emergency, volunteers and their immediate families will be among the first to be offered vaccinations.
We ask you to seriously consider joining the team being developed to protect you, your family, and the residents of Meriden. If you would like to assist us, please complete the Volunteer Registration Form attached to this announcement. The completed form may be mailed or faxed to the Meriden Health Department. For additional information please call 630-4240.
Thank you for your consideration.
