General Information and Fares

Where To Ride The Bus

Meriden buses – the 561, 563, 564, 565 and 566 local buses, the 590 bus to Middletown, and the 215 to Wallingford and New Haven and the 950 express buses to Hartford and New Haven – all stop at the Meriden Railroad Station on State Street, the Transit Center.  The 561 bus connects with the 501 at both Meriden Mall and MidState Hospital. The 501 proceeds to New Britain’s CTfastrak station, Bay M. Away from the station, buses will stop at places marked as bus stops by the blue CT Transit signs. Times on schedules are approximate.  Please be a little early.  Look for destination signs over the front windows to tell you where a bus is going.  Ask the driver if you are unsure.

Some of the afternoon runs of the Route 563 bus include stops at Platt High School. Check with the driver.

Service
Buses run weekdays, Monday through Friday, with a reduced schedule on Saturdays, with no service on Sunday.  Holidays include New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.  Call us if you are not certain of the operating schedule because of a holiday or a snowstorm.

Passenger Behavior
Smoking, vaping, drinking, eating, playing radios or phones, and loud, boisterous behavior are not allowed on the bus.

Transfers
Transfers are free within Meriden, Wallingford, Middletown, New Britain, and New Haven.  Transfers must be requested from the driver when you board the bus.  Transfers will indicate the time, date, route and expiration, and are good for continuing a one-way trip.  Doubling back over any part of the original route is not permitted.

Transfers will not be needed to travel between routes 563 and 564 or between routes 565 and 566.
