The Center was established to assist seniors and caregivers in exploring and accessing resources that promote successful and healthy aging. The Center offers...
*A Resource Library
The Library includes books, DVDs, informational brochures, applications for entitlements, housing alternatives, and nursing homes and much more. DVDs can be viewed at the Center or signed out.
* Internet Access
The Internet is available and volunteers can assist people who are not familiar with computers.
* Monthly Educational Programs
Please join us for our monthly educational programs. Click here for the next event to be held in November 2010. All events are free and open to the public.
* Social Work Services
Social Workers are available at the Center on Wednesday mornings from 10:00am to 12:00pm or Monday through Friday by appointment. Their goal is to enhance quality of life and independence. They can answer questions on health insurance, prescription drug coverage, housing alternatives, medical care, home services, and much more.
When there is a concern regarding a person's ability to remain safely at home, the Social Work staff can offer a comprehensive home assessment. A home assessment looks at all aspects of functioning in the home including:
* Self-care abilities *Mobility skills
* Ability to prepare meals * Socialization
* Ability to manage medications * Safe environment
* Ability to manage finances * Memory
If the assessment indicates that support services are needed the Social Worker will work with the client and family/caregiver to find resources to meet their needs.
