What to Recycle

  Corrugated Cardboard - Cardboard boxes with a ruffled layer sandwiched between two sheets.
  Newspapers and Magazines - Including all paper inserts.  Only clean newspapers and magazines.
  Glass & Juice Cartons - Clean food and beverage containers only. Clear or colored glass bottles and jars.  Single serve containers, pint, quart, and half gallon juice and milk cartons.
  Mixed Paper - Office paper, stationary and envelopes including those with plastic windows.  Direct mail pieces - shiny coated paper okay.  Place in brown paper bag next to bin.
  Metal Cans and Foil - Metal food and beverage containers, aluminum foil baking pans.
  Plastic Bottles #1 and #2 - Plastic bottles #1 (PETE) and #2 (HDPE).  Look for the number in the triangle on the bottom.
Catalogs and phone books.

How to Recycle

  Empty, flatten and fold or cut into reasonable size and place between or under recycling pails.
  Place loose in a brown paper bag.  Place bag on top of recycling pail.
  Rinse these recyclables and place in either red or blue pail or new blue bin.

Don't Recycle

  Packaging material, egg cartons, tape, string or single layer paperboard boxes like those for cereal, shoes or pizza boxes.
  String or plastic bags.
  Light bulbs, ceramics, cookware, crystal, window or mirror glass.
  Scrap metal, appliances, pots or pans, silverware, metal parts, needles, aerosol or paint cans.
  Bottle caps, bottles that contained antifreeze, motor oil, pesticides or similar toxic fluids.  Plastic types #4 - #7.
Brown manila envelopes, overnight envelopes.
Giveaway items (product samples/CD's).
Greeting cards or wrapping paper.
Boxboard, 6-pack cartons.
Tape, post-it notes or mail with pressure sensitive labels. No yellow tinted cardboard.

Put recycling pails at the curb the night before your recycling collection day.  Home use Recycle buckets are available at the Office of Parks and Public Works at 460 Liberty Street, 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.  Papers and cardboard may be wet with rain or snow.
